New Painting: Boston Garden In Color
New Painting: Boston Garden In Color
Monday, January 11, 2010
This past weekend, Paul and I walked around Boston snapping photos for some painting inspiration. Here is the image I was in search of:
When I was painting in Texas a month ago, I discovered an interest in painting colorful trees and taking a little artistic license on my view of the true colors. After painting the Arboretum Tree, I decided that I had to give a tree like this another shot. This time I was looking for a Boston background, a strong composition, and another old and beautiful tree. Though I was not looking for a “snow” painting, I took the photo above for it’s composition, and decided to see what I could do with it. “Boston Garden in Color” is my interpretation of the above. One of the things I love about these kinds of paintings is that all those colors where made from four tubs of acrylic paint: red, blue, yellow and white. Very fun mixing of colors.
To see the painting process, please go to my process pages and you can see the painting unfold from start to finish.
