New Painting: CITGO sign
New Painting: CITGO sign

Today’s art endeavors led to an highly unexpected work. I will explain by this photo. Below is how the painting above started off:
Yes, it was going to be a painting of the ducks in the Boston Garden. It was also going to be more impressionistic and full of color. As I put on the different colors of paint though, I got turned off by the ducks and started drawing the CITGO sign over everything. Now, I realize that it’s probably not as aesthetically pleasing to have the big sign of a gas station rather than cute ducks, but I can’t explain myself much further.
This painting was inspired from a photo in Paul’s collection of Boston. And seeing as a few of Paul’s most recent works have had the CITGO sign in them, I blame his influence over this piece.
I was going to start the day with a big bright painting of some trees from Hawaii, but for our Starbuck’s exhibit, Paul and I are aiming for more of a Boston theme. Tomorrow, I may start the day walking around Boston, snapping photos, and looking for inspiration.
Today is the first day that my new and improved website has gone public. To my surprise, I already have potential buyers for both the Boston Garden painting and the Swan Boat painting. The potential buyer for the Boston Garden will be visiting Paul’s apartment tomorrow to see the piece in person before purchasing. I need to hold on to the Swan Boat painting over the weekend so I will be bringing it out to Worcester at some point next week to finish the “transaction.” I’m very excited by this! I need to start making more art to re-stock my gallery! A great way to start the new year.
